The article talked
about how there are multiple different subculture categories to the term Asian.
It talks about how Asians are a heterogeneic group with many different
subgroups and many different backgrounds. All of the Asian cultures have a different
experience coming to America through the different laws and acts and time zones.
Asian was just a term to categorize the East into one label. I think that this
is a big thing to realize that Asians have a diverse and multicultural community.
We are not all the same and we come from different areas of Asia. I am a
Chinese American and I know about Chinese culture but I don’t know much about
Japanese, Korean, Indian, Cambodian, Vietnamese, Thai, or other Asian cultures.
These areas in Asia all have a different background and relation to America.
Some of the groups have a more distressful history with America that cause them
to be more targeted or outcasted in America. But labeling all of us into one
group is hard because the cultures are so diverse and most of the time it doesn’t
make sense at all.
