It super interesting seeing how much things have changed from the things shown in this documentary. I find it so funny that the one teen even goes to the extent of saying she feels like she needs to fit in and appeal to popular culture. I think this is still true today. There is a huge demand by youth for main stream popularity. For marketing, teens are one of the most difficult people to market towards primarily due to their constant and rapid change of interest.  While many things stay the same, I think today there is a whole new dynamic when it comes to marketing. Due to the vast exposure from social media, television, and the internet. Now changes in popular culture happen even faster and no longer have to wait for information to spread.  For example, MTV was a typical source of determining what was in and what was no longer cool. The limitation of this was that people had to wait for the show to be aired. On top of that, people actually had to make time to watch the show. Today there is no set time one need to check in to find out what is popular. Simply opening up your browser can immediately expose you to millions of trends, news, and marketing. This fast acting and spreading form of communication in itself is a form of popular culture. Almost anyone can have access to the internet and marketers can then use that to help target their audiences.
