The article talks about Filipinos representing themselves as
DJs. Even though they have no true founders of hip hop, they still have
generations of the hip hop culture that contain people from the Filipino
culture that partake in hip hop everyday. There were some people who claimed it
as a part of back culture. I think that djing and hip hop in general is already
a culture in itself and it can have cultures of different ethnicities. I think
hip hop is not intended just for one ethnic culture; it is for everyone who
wants to take part in it and contribute. I take part in bboying, and I find no
specific ethnic category that I get placed in. I just find a culture that everyone
appreciates and enjoys for the same purpose in expressing themselves. Hip hop
unites people from around the world. It acts like a joining of ethnic cultures
in a way.
