DJs, Racial Authenticity and the Hip Hop Nation

DJs, Racial Authenticity and the Hip Hop Nation

I think that when it comes to “authenticating” Filipino DJs in the hip hop community I view it more as a cultural outreach rather than a different sector that’s derived from black youth’s hip hop. Rather than having the style of hip hop only belong to the black community because it originated from there I believe that it can stretch and reach out to almost any other culture. Hip hop’s style and the way singers express themselves all follow a certain pattern in terms of their execution, but as stated in the readings, the Filipino are able to blend in their unique experiences and integrate it with the style of hip hop. Through this new style of hip hop it still has the Filipino aspects that makes it unique but at the same time still honors and recognizes the black origins for hip hop. The political aspect should be more equal and have a divided credibility in that the way the Filipino people presents it shouldn’t be considered fake just because different content is used and that it should be encouraged because the style is recognized as people continue to write hip hop. No matter the content used no kind of hip hop is better than the other just because it has different content and the black youths should be more respectful and happy that others are enjoying their cultural impact on other communities instead of using it to set their dominance over them.
